"God let this happen because I was greedy. I deserve this loss as punishment."
How it sounds in your head: I wanted quick money instead of being content. God is teaching me a lesson about greed and materialism. This is discipline for loving money.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17Religious teaching that God authors financial loss to punish or teach lessons.
She did want financial gain (which feels like greed), and preachers have said God opposes the proud and disciplines those He loves. The timing feels like punishment.
He owed 10,000 talents (BILLIONS—literally impossible to repay through work). The master didn't create a payment plan or teach him a lesson; he FORGAVE the ENTIRE debt in one moment of compassion.
I REFUSE the lie that God caused my investment loss to punish greed. IT IS WRITTEN that every good gift comes from the Father who does NOT vary—He doesn't bless and then curse. Jesus came to give ABUNDANT life; the thief comes to steal. This loss is FROM the enemy, not FROM God. IT IS WRITTEN in Colossians 2:13-14 that God forgave ALL my trespasses, nailing them to the cross. There is no punishment left for me to receive—Jesus took it ALL. The Father isn't disciplining me through theft; He's restoring me through grace. I am loved, not punished.
The Father isn't withholding to teach you about greed—He's the one who forgave the BILLION-dollar debt in one moment. He doesn't vary between generous and punishing; He's ALWAYS good, ALWAYS giving.
