"God is withholding children from me because I'm not spiritually mature enough yet."
How it sounds in your head: Other women seem more prayerful, more submitted, more 'ready' for motherhood. Maybe God sees something broken in me that needs fixing first. I'm afraid I'll fail the test and never become a mother.
"But the angel said to him, 'Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.'"
-- Luke 1:13Religion teaches that blessings are rewards for spiritual achievement, making motherhood a merit badge.
You've seen women with strong faith get pregnant while you wait, and the comparison creates the narrative that you're spiritually deficient. Church culture often implies children are given to the 'worthy.'
Hannah was deeply loved by her husband, devoted in worship, yet barren while her rival conceived easily. God wasn't waiting for her to be 'better'—when she poured out her heart, He opened her womb THAT YEAR and gave her Samuel.
I REFUSE the lie that children are rewards for spiritual performance. IT IS WRITTEN that Elizabeth was already blameless before God while still barren—my worthiness isn't the issue. I am ALREADY righteous by the blood of Jesus, not by my prayer life or maturity level. God doesn't withhold children from the 'not ready'—He GIVES children to reveal His glory. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus, and I reject every voice that says I'm not enough. My womb is blessed by GRACE, not grades. I am ready because HE says I'm ready, and conception is coming NOW.
The Father isn't waiting for you to pass some spiritual exam—He's already placed a baby in Heaven's nursery with your name on it. The prodigal didn't become spiritually mature before receiving the robe; the Father ran while she was still a mess.
