"God is withholding blessing because I still struggle with the sins that led to bad decisions."
How it sounds in your head: I'm still tempted by the same stuff—porn, impulsivity, whatever. I haven't conquered these areas, so how can I expect breakthrough? He's probably waiting for me to get victory over these patterns before He opens doors. My ongoing struggles disqualify me.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religion teaching that blessing is conditional on behavior plus enemy highlighting ongoing temptation as disqualification.
He's still fighting temptations, still having weak moments, and it feels hypocritical to ask for breakthrough while still stumbling. The logic that victory must precede blessing seems reasonable and humble.
Broke his Nazarite vow repeatedly, slept with prostitutes, gave away the secret of his strength to Delilah, lost everything. In his absolute lowest moment—blind, enslaved, grinding grain—God gave him his greatest victory, killing more enemies in his death than his entire life.
I REFUSE the lie that ongoing struggles disqualify me from breakthrough. IT IS WRITTEN that He has forgiven me ALL trespasses and wiped out ALL requirements—PAST TENSE, FINISHED. Samson broke every vow, slept with prostitutes, and received his greatest victory in his worst moment. The BARAK protected Abraham the repeated liar. I am not blessed based on conquest over sin—I am blessed based on the BLOOD. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the righteousness of God IN CHRIST—not after I conquer patterns, RIGHT NOW. My Father gives freely to sons who are still being sanctified. Supernatural breakthrough is mine NOW because I am IN CHRIST, not because I've arrived at sinless perfection.
Your Father isn't waiting at the finish line of your sanctification to release blessing. He's blessing you IN THE PROCESS, while you're still struggling, because your righteousness is GIFT, not achievement, and His giving is based on covenant, not conquest.
