"God is withholding a relationship because I'm not spiritually mature enough yet."
How it sounds in your head: You've heard it at church: 'God is preparing you' or 'He's waiting until you're ready.' You don't pray enough, your quiet times are inconsistent, and maybe that's why you're still single. Once you get your spiritual life together, THEN God will bring someone.
"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
-- Romans 5:8Source: religion teaching that blessings are rewards for spiritual performance rather than gifts of grace.
Other girls seem more 'on fire for God' and they have boyfriends. Leaders say things like 'become who you want to attract,' implying your singleness is because you're spiritually lacking.
The thief on the cross had zero spiritual maturity, zero good works, zero time to 'grow.' He was a criminal dying for his crimes. Jesus didn't say 'get your life together first.' He said, 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' INSTANT acceptance, zero prerequisites.
I REFUSE the lie that God is withholding blessings until I perform better spiritually. IT IS WRITTEN that while I was still a sinner, Christ died for me. I don't earn God's gifts through maturity—I receive them through grace. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by how consistent my quiet times are. IT IS WRITTEN that it is not by works of righteousness which I have done, but according to His mercy He saved me. I am not on probation. I am a daughter, fully accepted, fully loved, fully blessed.
The Father isn't holding relationship at arm's length until you hit some spiritual quota. Like the thief on the cross, you qualify for paradise with zero prep time—and if He gives salvation that freely, He gives everything else the same way.
