"God is waiting for me to get my act together before He can really use me."
How it sounds in your head: I keep thinking I'll serve once I'm more stable, more healed, more together. But I look at my life and see dysfunction. How can God use someone who's still this broken? He probably wants me to fix myself first, then I'll be ready to step into calling.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.'"
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Source: Religion teaches that ministry flows from maturity and that God only uses the cleaned-up, making your readiness about your progress.
You see people in ministry who seem to have it together, and you feel disqualified by your mess. The 'get the log out of your own eye' verse seems to say fix yourself before helping others. Your brokenness feels like a disqualifier rather than your testimony.
Hiding in a winepress, terrified, from the weakest clan, the least in his family. Angel called him 'mighty warrior' while he was literally HIDING. God didn't wait for him to get brave—He called him mighty WHILE he was weak and sent him to save Israel immediately. He defeated armies while still wrestling fear.
I REFUSE the lie that God is waiting for me to get my act together. IT IS WRITTEN that His strength is made perfect in WEAKNESS—not after I overcome it, but IN it. Gideon was called a mighty warrior while HIDING. Moses stuttered his way through Pharaoh's court. Paul had a thorn in the flesh and turned the world upside down. My brokenness is not my disqualification; it's His CANVAS. IT IS WRITTEN I am blessed coming in and going out, in my strength and in my weakness. The BARAK flows through covenant, not competence. I am READY NOW because HE is ready, not when I'm fixed.
Right now, in your current mess, the Father is calling you 'mighty warrior' just like He did Gideon in the winepress. He's not waiting for you to clean up—He's already assigned you, already equipped you, and your brokenness is exactly what He'll use to display His glory.
