"God is punishing me for past mistakes through my current struggles."
How it sounds in your head: You made bad choices—in marriage, parenting, finances, relationships. Now life is hard and it feels like payback. You're reaping what you sowed. This must be divine discipline for what you did wrong years ago.
"Through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religion teaches karma disguised as 'reaping and sowing,' making God a cosmic accountant settling scores.
The struggles feel proportional to past failures, and church teaching about consequences makes punishment seem biblical. The timing feels too specific to be coincidence.
This woman had five failed marriages and was living with a man. Her entire town knew her shame. Jesus didn't bring punishment—He brought LIVING WATER and called her into ministry. She became the first evangelist to Samaria. Past mistakes, instant purpose.
I REFUSE the lie that God is punishing me for past mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN: His mercies are new EVERY MORNING—yesterday's failure doesn't define today. IT IS WRITTEN: there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Jesus took ALL punishment at the cross. The woman at the well had five failed marriages, yet Jesus made her an evangelist. The BARAK blessed Abraham even when he LIED—twice. Protection wasn't based on perfection. My Father is near to the brokenhearted, not settling scores with them.
Your Father isn't keeping a ledger of your failures to exact payment later. He's the Jesus who gave living water to a woman with five failed marriages and made her His first evangelist. Your past is paid for, not punishing you.
