"God is using this pain to teach me something I'm not learning yet."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe if I figure out the spiritual lesson, the pain will lift. Church people say God doesn't waste suffering, so this must have a purpose I'm missing. What am I not seeing that keeps me in this?
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious teaching that makes God the author of suffering and turns pain into a cosmic classroom with you as the failing student.
Well-meaning Christians quote Romans 8:28 and suggest every hardship has a hidden lesson. The pain's persistence feels like evidence you haven't passed God's test yet, making you both victim and failure simultaneously.
Disciples asked whose sin caused his blindness—his or his parents. Jesus said NEITHER—this happened so God's works could be displayed in him. Then Jesus IMMEDIATELY healed him, demonstrating that God's work is HEALING, not prolonged suffering for educational purposes.
I REFUSE the lie that God authors my pain for pedagogy. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came for ABUNDANT LIFE. My Father isn't withholding healing until I crack some spiritual code. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that abundance is His nature. The BARAK blessing isn't conditional on my understanding—it protected Israel even when they were clueless and complaining. I am Abraham's seed through Christ, heir to blessing, not suffering. Pain, you have no divine endorsement here.
The Father isn't standing over your pain with a lesson plan waiting for you to get it—He's running toward you with healing because your wholeness brings Him JOY. The prodigal didn't need to understand poverty economics; he needed the Father's embrace, and so do you.
