"God is using this illness to prepare me for death and teach me to let go."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this cancer is God's way of loosening my grip on earth so I'll be ready for heaven. Fighting it might be fighting His timing. Perhaps He's teaching me to release everything and everyone. Acceptance feels more spiritual than battle.
"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."
-- John 10:10Religious fatalism that makes God the author of disease and confuses surrender to God with surrender to sickness, two completely different things.
At this age, death is statistically near, making it easy to spiritualize sickness as divine preparation. Exhaustion from decades of life makes passive acceptance attractive compared to warfare, especially when framed as 'God's will.'
God sent Isaiah to tell Hezekiah 'set your house in order, for you shall die.' Hezekiah wept and prayed, and before Isaiah left the courtyard, God said 'I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; I will ADD fifteen years to your life.' God changed the death sentence IMMEDIATELY based on prayer.
I REFUSE the lie that this illness is God's preparation for my death. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy, but Jesus came to give ABUNDANT LIFE—and abundant means abundant, even at 85. Sickness is the THIEF'S signature, not my Father's. IT IS WRITTEN that Hezekiah's death sentence was REVERSED when he prayed—God ADDED fifteen years instantly. My times are in His hands, not cancer's hands. I am under the BARAK blessing where life is promised, not premature death. When my time comes, I'll graduate in HEALTH and STRENGTH like Moses, not in sickness. I receive LIFE more abundantly RIGHT NOW.
Your Father isn't using cancer as a boarding pass to heaven—when your time comes, He'll take you in strength like Enoch who walked with God and was not, or like Moses at 120 with undimmed eyes. He's running toward you RIGHT NOW with the same power that added fifteen years to Hezekiah's life the moment he prayed.
