"God is using this heart condition to slow me down and teach me to rest in Him."
How it sounds in your head: You've been striving your whole life—working, serving, proving yourself. Maybe God gave you a heart problem because it's the only way to get you to stop and trust Him. Sometimes He has to break us to remake us.
"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."
-- Matthew 11:28God-as-author-of-sickness theology; spiritual-sounding justification for disease as divine intervention tool.
The diagnosis came during a busy season, which feels like God's intervention. Cardiologists say 'reduce stress,' which sounds like God forcing you to rest through illness.
She was sick with a fever, lying in bed. Jesus didn't say 'this fever is teaching her something'—He touched her hand and IMMEDIATELY the fever left her, and she got up and SERVED them. Instant healing led to instant activity, not forced rest through sickness.
I REFUSE the lie that God authored heart disease to teach me rest. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus gives rest to the weary, not cardiac conditions. He healed ALL who were oppressed of the devil—sickness is oppression, not instruction. IT IS WRITTEN that EVERY good and perfect gift comes from the Father; heart disease is neither good nor perfect. I am Abraham's seed under the BARAK blessing, which includes being blessed in my body. Jesus bore my sicknesses and carried my pains at Calvary. My rest comes from abiding in the Vine, not from disease forcing me to stop. I am the healed, the whole, the strong—my heart beats with resurrection power because Christ lives in me.
The Father doesn't give heart attacks to teach rest—He invites you to His heart where there's perfect peace. He's running toward you like He ran to the prodigal, not with a disease but with an embrace that says 'you are MINE, and my yoke is easy, my burden is light.'
