"God is testing my faith by making me choose between medical treatment and trusting Him."
How it sounds in your head: My youth pastor said 'either God is enough or He's not' when I asked about seeing a therapist for my panic attacks. Now every time I consider getting help, I feel like I'm in some kind of spiritual test. Like if I go to the doctor, I'm telling God He's not sufficient.
"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning."
-- James 1:17False teaching that God sets up faith-tests by withholding help through normal means, making Him author of suffering.
Religious leaders frame medical help as 'Plan B' rather than God's provision, creating false dichotomy. She genuinely wants to honor God and fears 'failing' by seeking help that's painted as spiritual compromise.
When Hezekiah was sick unto death, God sent the prophet Isaiah with a word AND a medical remedy—a poultice of figs applied to his boil. God didn't make him choose between prophetic word and physical treatment; He provided BOTH simultaneously because He wanted him healed.
I REFUSE the lie that God makes me choose between faith and medicine. IT IS WRITTEN that EVERY good gift comes from Him, including doctors, therapists, and medication. My Father doesn't play testing games with my health—He's already proven His love at the cross. I am not in a test; I am in His care. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:32 that He 'freely gives us all things.' Medical treatment isn't Plan B—it's His generous provision. The BARAK blessing means I walk in FAVOR with physicians who have wisdom from above.
Your Father isn't holding healing hostage until you prove something. He's the Dad who carries you to the emergency room at 2am, who INVENTED medicine through human minds He created. He's not asking you to choose—He's saying 'Take ALL the help available because I love you that much.'
