"God is teaching me patience through insomnia - I shouldn't ask for instant healing."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this sleepless suffering has a purpose. Perhaps God is building character through this struggle. I shouldn't be greedy asking for instant healing - that sounds like treating God like a vending machine. Godly people endure patiently.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religious teaching that God authors suffering for character development and that expecting instant breakthrough is presumptuous or immature.
You've heard countless sermons about suffering producing perseverance and God's ways being higher than ours. The idea that God has noble purposes in your pain makes the suffering feel more bearable and asking for breakthrough feel selfish.
Peter's mother-in-law was sick with fever, unable to serve or function. Jesus touched her hand and the fever left her IMMEDIATELY - so instantly healed that she got up and served them that same moment, no recovery period needed.
I REFUSE the lie that God teaches through insomnia. IT IS WRITTEN that it is God's will for me to prosper and be in health. Jesus healed instantly everywhere He went - fever left immediately, blind saw that moment, paralyzed walked instantly. God is not the author of sleeplessness; He's the giver of rest. IT IS WRITTEN in Psalm 103:2-3 to forget not all His benefits, who heals ALL my diseases. Not 'some' or 'eventually' - ALL. The BARAK blessing includes immediate provision - widow's oil filled jars that afternoon, prodigal restored in minutes, 153 fish in one net. I receive instant supernatural sleep as my covenant inheritance, not something I slowly earn through patient suffering.
The Father isn't orchestrating your sleeplessness for character development - He's running toward you with healing in His wings, eager to give rest like Jesus immediately healed Peter's mother-in-law. His will is your health, and instant breakthrough glorifies Him far more than prolonged suffering.
