"God is punishing us financially for how we mishandled money all those years together."
How it sounds in your head: We were foolish with money. Spent when we should have saved. Made bad investments. Lived beyond our means. Now in our final years we're struggling and it feels like God's judgment. We're reaping what we sowed and there's no escape from the consequences of decades of financial sin.
"having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:14Religious teaching about sowing and reaping twisted into divine punishment, denying the finished work of the cross.
The timing of financial struggle at life's end feels like cosmic justice, and correlation between past choices and current lack seems to prove cause-and-effect judgment.
The thief had lived a life of crime, was literally being EXECUTED for his sins, had zero time to make restitution or fix anything, and Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in paradise' - instant forgiveness with zero payment for past wrongs.
I REFUSE the lie that financial struggle is God punishing past money mistakes. IT IS WRITTEN that He nailed the handwriting of requirements AGAINST me to the cross - every debt, every foolish decision, every financial sin was dealt with at Calvary. God is NOT condemning me - Jesus said so in John 3:17. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the CURSE of the law, and poverty is part of that curse in Deuteronomy 28. The thief on the cross had a lifetime of crime and got paradise THAT DAY - how much more am I covered by that same blood? The barak blessing of Abraham is mine by FAITH, not by financial track record. I am blessed in my storehouses, blessed coming in and going out, RIGHT NOW.
Father isn't using your bank account as a punishment tool - He nailed the bill for every bad money decision to the cross 2,000 years ago. The thief got paradise while DYING for his crimes; your financial past can't keep you from breakthrough today.
