"God is punishing me for being greedy or loving money too much through these investment losses."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I was too focused on building wealth. Maybe God is teaching me that I was making an idol out of financial security. This loss is His way of correcting my heart and showing me I trusted money more than Him.
"He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"
-- Romans 8:32Religious teaching that God uses financial loss as punishment or discipline, making Him the author of poverty as a character-building tool.
She did care about the investment and financial security. Spiritual-sounding people in her life suggest trials are God's discipline. It feels humble to accept punishment rather than claim blessing.
Abraham lied to Pharaoh out of fear and greed for self-preservation, claiming Sarah was his sister. God plagued Pharaoh, defended Abraham the liar, and Abraham left Egypt richer than when he arrived—blessing despite sin.
I REFUSE the lie that God punishes with poverty. IT IS WRITTEN that He who gave His own Son will freely give me all things. Jesus became poor so I could be rich. I am under grace, not under law. Abraham lied twice out of greed and left richer both times—the BARAK isn't behavior-based. IT IS WRITTEN that Christ redeemed me from the curse, and poverty is the curse. I receive the blessing of Abraham by covenant, not by perfect motives. The Father is GOOD.
The Father isn't correcting you with financial loss. He already corrected everything at the cross. He's running toward you with abundance because He gave His Son—how would He withhold anything else?
