"God is preparing me for death by taking away my sleep."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this is how it starts—losing sleep first, then everything else. Maybe God is weaning me from rest because soon I'll rest forever. Every sleepless night feels like practice for leaving this world. Is He slowly taking me home by taking away what keeps me here?
"I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD."
-- Psalm 118:17Religion: suffering as preparation, God as author of decline, death as enemy to be rehearsed rather than defeated foe.
She's watched friends die, seen the pattern of decline, and sleeplessness feels like the first domino. Religious teaching about 'preparing to meet God' through suffering makes the connection seem spiritual, even noble.
God told Hezekiah through Isaiah, 'Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.' Hezekiah wept and prayed, and IMMEDIATELY God sent Isaiah back: 'I have added fifteen years to your life.' Instant reversal of a death sentence from God Himself.
I REFUSE the lie that God is taking my sleep to prepare me for death. IT IS WRITTEN that I shall not die but LIVE and declare the works of the Lord. Death is a defeated enemy, not a process to rehearse. God doesn't torment me toward the grave—He floods me with LIFE until my last breath. IT IS WRITTEN in John 10:10 that Jesus came to give ABUNDANT life. Every night is for rest and restoration, not rehearsal for dying. I receive LIFE-giving sleep RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't slowly taking you away—He's holding you close, saying 'Not yet, beloved. There's still LIFE to live, joy to experience, grandchildren to bless, mornings to see.' He's not rehearsing your exit; He's celebrating your PRESENCE, and rest is His gift for the living.
