"God gave me a thorn in the flesh with this insomnia to keep me humble."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe this is my 'thorn'—the thing I'll always struggle with to keep me dependent on God. Maybe He's using sleepless nights to teach me something, and I'm supposed to accept it rather than fight it. Maybe healing isn't His will for me.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
-- Isaiah 53:5Religious misapplication of Paul's thorn that makes God the author of suffering rather than the Healer who bore our infirmities.
It's been going on so long with no breakthrough—maybe that means it's God's will. Plenty of Christians talk about 'thorns' they live with. Maybe her expectation for healing is the problem.
This woman had a spirit of infirmity for 18 YEARS—religious leaders called it her lot in life. Jesus said Satan had BOUND her and immediately set her free. What religion called 'God's will' was actually enemy bondage Jesus came to destroy.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me insomnia to keep me humble. IT IS WRITTEN that by His stripes I AM healed—past tense, purchased, finished. Jesus didn't carry my sins on the cross but leave my sleep struggles as a teaching tool. The woman bent double for 18 years was BOUND by Satan, not humbled by God. IT IS WRITTEN in 1 John 3:8 that the Son of God was manifested to destroy the works of the devil—insomnia is the devil's work, not God's curriculum. The BARAK blessing declares I am blessed in my lying down and rising up—sleeplessness is curse, and Christ redeemed me from the curse. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives His beloved sleep; thorns aren't His pedagogy. I receive healing as covenant right, not presumption. My Father is Healer, not the author of my insomnia.
The Father isn't withholding sleep to teach you a lesson—He already taught everything through Jesus and said 'It is finished.' The woman bent double for 18 years was instantly freed when Jesus called it what it was: enemy bondage. Your insomnia isn't divine curriculum; it's exactly what Jesus came to destroy.
