"God is angry I doubted Him through the suffering and losses"
How it sounds in your head: I should have trusted more when He took my husband, my friends, my health. Instead, I questioned Him. I was angry at Him. I doubted His goodness. A mature Christian would have rested in His sovereignty, but I fought Him every step, and now I'm ashamed.
"The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves such as have a contrite spirit."
-- Psalm 34:18Religion's teaching that doubt is sin and honest grief is lack of faith, making God fragile enough to be offended by your pain instead of strong enough to handle your questions.
You remember the specific moments you shook your fist at heaven, the prayers that were more accusations than petitions, the times you couldn't sing the worship songs because they felt like lies. That felt nothing like the faith you were supposed to have.
Cursed the day of his birth, questioned God's justice, said God was treating him like an enemy. God's response wasn't rejection but intimate conversation, and at the end declared Job spoke what was RIGHT about Him—honest grief was acceptable, not sinful.
I REFUSE the lie that my grief and questions disappointed God. IT IS WRITTEN that He is NEAR to the brokenhearted—my pain drew Him closer, not away. Job cursed his birth and God said he spoke rightly. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus invites the heavy-laden, and I was never heavier than in my grief. My doubt wasn't rejection of Him; it was crying out TO Him, and He heard every word as a Father who could handle His daughter's pain. He was never offended by my honesty; He was holding me through the questions.
The Father wasn't counting your angry prayers as strikes against you—He was catching every tear and drawing closer to your breaking heart. He's big enough to handle your fist-shaking and tender enough to never leave you in it.
