"God is angry at me for the things I've done and thought about."
How it sounds in your head: I've had thoughts I know are wrong. I've done things I'm too ashamed to tell anyone. God sees everything and He must be disgusted with me.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."
-- Colossians 2:13-14Religious teaching of angry God waiting to punish; enemy weaponizes emerging sexual awareness and normal development.
Puberty brings new thoughts and feelings that feel sinful. Shame silences boys from seeking help, and they assume God's response matches their internal condemnation.
This man was a criminal being executed for his crimes, moments from death. He simply asked Jesus to remember him, and Jesus instantly promised him Paradise that same day—no confession list, no cleanup, no process.
I REFUSE the lie that God is angry at me. IT IS WRITTEN that He forgave me of ALL trespasses, nailing every accusation to the cross. God's wrath was satisfied at Calvary—there is none left for me. IT IS WRITTEN in Romans 8:1 there is NO condemnation for me in Christ Jesus. My Father isn't disgusted; He's running toward me with the robe and ring. I am righteous by gift, not by perfect thoughts. The barak protects me in my weakness, just like it protected Abraham when he lied and Jacob when he deceived.
Your Father isn't angry—He's already dealt with His anger at sin by putting it on Jesus. He looks at you the same way He looks at Jesus: beloved, delightful, His pride and joy.
