"God gave us one child but won't give us another - we should be grateful."
How it sounds in your head: You've got one miracle - your 8-year-old son. Five years of secondary infertility since. Well-meaning Christians say 'At least you have one' and 'Be thankful for what God gave you.' But your heart aches for siblings, for the full family you envisioned. Maybe God's quota for your family is one, and wanting more is greedy.
"Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us."
-- Ephesians 3:20Religious scarcity theology disguised as contentment, limiting God's generosity to human quotas.
The first one came, so you know conception is possible, which makes the years of nothing since feel purposeful rather than medical. If God could do it once, His silence now feels like a 'no' rather than a 'not yet.'
The Lord opened Leah's womb and she had four sons quickly. Then she stopped conceiving for a period. Later, God 'listened to Leah' and she conceived AGAIN and had two more sons and a daughter - He didn't ration her to one or two; He gave abundantly, even to the unloved wife.
I REFUSE the lie that God rations His blessings or that wanting another child is greedy. IT IS WRITTEN that He does EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY above all we ask or think. I am not under scarcity; I am under the BARAK blessing where flocks multiplied, herds increased, and children came in abundance. The same God who opened the womb for our first child is faithful to open it again. IT IS WRITTEN that children are a heritage from the Lord - plural, not singular. I declare supernatural conception, more children than we imagined, and a family that testifies to God's extravagant generosity. One child was the BEGINNING, not the limit.
The Father who turned water into 180 gallons of the finest wine - not 'just enough' - isn't rationing your family to one child. He's running toward you with abundance that will make you say 'This is too much!' and He'll reply 'That's how I do family - EXCEEDINGLY ABUNDANTLY.'
