"God gave me this sickness to teach me something before I die."
How it sounds in your head: Every day I wake up in pain, I wonder what lesson I'm still supposed to learn. Maybe God is keeping me here, suffering, because I haven't figured out what He's trying to show me. I'm afraid to die without learning it.
"How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religion taught suffering is God's curriculum, making Him the author of disease instead of the Healer.
Decades of church teaching said trials teach us, and the timing—right at life's end—makes it feel purposeful. The pain is so constant it feels intentional, designed, pedagogical.
Hezekiah was sick unto death—Isaiah told him to set his house in order because he would die. Hezekiah wept and prayed, and before Isaiah left the courtyard, God added 15 YEARS to his life—instant reversal of a death sentence.
I REFUSE the lie that God gave me this sickness to teach me. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL who were oppressed by the devil—sickness is oppression, not education. My Father didn't send His Son to condemn me but to SAVE me, and by His stripes I WAS healed—past tense, finished work. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—no sickness-as-punishment, no disease-as-discipline. I am Abraham's seed, heir according to the PROMISE, and the BARAK blessing covers me with divine health. Christ redeemed me from the curse so the blessing of Abraham might come upon me—and that blessing includes LIFE, not lessons through suffering.
Your Father isn't standing at the finish line with a final exam—He's running toward you with the ring of authority and the robe of health. He didn't keep you alive this long to torture you with disease; He's kept you because His mercies are new every morning, and He delights in adding years like He did for Hezekiah.
