"God gave me this disease to teach me something or grow my faith."
How it sounds in your head: Maybe I needed to slow down and this illness forced me to depend on God. Romans 8:28 says all things work together for good, so maybe this cancer is part of His plan. Perhaps I was too proud and this is humbling me. Everything happens for a reason, right?
"God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him."
-- Acts 10:38Religion teaching God authors suffering to produce character, distorting 'all things work together for good' into 'all things come FROM God.'
Well-meaning Christians have told her 'God is trying to get your attention' or 'He must trust you with this suffering,' making the disease feel like divine assignment rather than enemy attack.
Bent double for eighteen years, unable to straighten herself. Jesus called her condition what it was: 'Satan has bound her.' He didn't say 'God is teaching her patience'—He loosed her IMMEDIATELY and she glorified God, healed in an instant after nearly two decades.
I REFUSE the lie that God authored my disease. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus healed ALL oppressed by the devil, revealing the Father's true heart. Sickness is not a teacher; it's a thief. God's voice sounds like 'You are loosed,' not 'You are bound for your growth.' IT IS WRITTEN in James 1:17 that every GOOD gift comes from the Father, in whom is NO variation or shadow of turning. He gives life, not disease. The BARAK blessing covers me—the same covenant protection that shielded Abraham the liar, Isaac the fearful, Jacob the deceiver. My healing is not earned through lessons learned; it's inherited through covenant.
The Father isn't using disease as a teaching tool—that's the older brother's theology. He's the Father who runs toward you with healing in His wings, who sees your suffering as the enemy's work, not His curriculum. He's not waiting for you to learn enough to deserve healing; He's already provided it through the stripes Jesus bore.
