"God gave me singleness as punishment for past sexual sin"
How it sounds in your head: You've repented a thousand times, but the shame lingers. Maybe you slept with your ex, maybe you went too far, maybe you had an abortion. Now singleness feels like God's payback—natural consequences you can't escape.
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
-- 1 John 1:9Religious legalism that treats God like a scorekeeper doling out punishment disguised as 'natural consequences'
You've heard the teachings about reaping what you sow, and your past sexual choices feel like evidence. Every continued single day becomes confirmation that you've disqualified yourself from blessing.
Rahab wasn't just sexually active—she was a prostitute, her entire income from sexual sin. Yet God brought her into covenant, gave her a husband (Salmon), and put her in Jesus' genealogy. Her past didn't disqualify her; grace covered it completely.
I REFUSE the lie that God punishes my past with singleness. IT IS WRITTEN that if I confess my sins, He is faithful to forgive AND cleanse from ALL unrighteousness. I am not disqualified by sexual sin. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. The blood of Jesus covers completely, not partially. I reject shame-based theology that treats God like a vindictive scorekeeper. I am fully forgiven, fully cleansed, fully qualified for blessing.
The Father doesn't look at your past and withhold your future—He looks at Christ's blood and sees you completely clean. The moment you repented, your slate was wiped clean; He's not punishing you with singleness as payback.
