"God forgave me but I still feel guilty, so something must be wrong with my faith"
How it sounds in your head: You prayed, you confessed, you believed—but the FEELING won't lift. If you were really forgiven, wouldn't you feel free? The lingering guilt proves your faith isn't strong enough or your repentance wasn't real.
"For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things."
-- 1 John 3:20Enemy lie that equates feelings with truth and makes emotional states the judge of spiritual reality rather than God's Word.
She's been told 'the truth will set you free,' so if she still FEELS guilty, she assumes she doesn't really have the truth or her faith is defective. The emotion feels like evidence against her standing.
Elijah just called down fire from heaven and defeated 850 false prophets in the greatest victory of his life, yet hours later he was suicidal, depressed, and begging God to let him die. His FEELINGS said he was finished; GOD'S TRUTH said he had kings to anoint and a successor to train. Feelings LIED. God's Word was TRUE.
I REFUSE the lie that my feelings determine my forgiveness. IT IS WRITTEN: 'If my heart condemns me, GOD IS GREATER than my heart'—His Word outranks my emotions. IT IS WRITTEN: 'There is NO condemnation'—not 'no condemnation when I feel free,' NONE. I am covered by the BARAK blessing that doesn't fluctuate with my feelings. I am Abraham's seed, HEIR according to PROMISE. My forgiveness is a FACT, not a feeling. I stand on the ROCK of His Word, not the sand of my emotions. I AM FORGIVEN.
The Father doesn't measure your forgiveness by your emotional temperature. He measures it by His Son's blood, and that blood shouts FORGIVEN over you whether you feel like dancing or weeping.
