"God forgave me, but I can't forgive myself for the abortion I had forty years ago."
How it sounds in your head: Every time I hold my grandchildren, I think about the one I killed. God may have forgiven me, but I don't deserve to forgive myself. I have to carry this guilt until I die—it's the least I can do.
"And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross."

The weight has been constant for decades, and forgiving herself feels like minimizing what happened. She believes her ongoing guilt honors the life lost and proves her remorse is real.
She was caught in the actual act, dragged before crowds, facing execution by stoning. Jesus said 'Neither do I condemn you. Go and sin no more'—INSTANT forgiveness, no penance, no probation period, no requirement to punish herself for years.
I REFUSE the lie that I can't forgive myself. IT IS WRITTEN that He has forgiven me ALL trespasses and wiped out every requirement against me. If God Himself—the only One with the right to condemn—does not condemn me, I will not condemn myself. IT IS WRITTEN there is NO condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, covered by the BARAK blessing that protected Abraham even when he lied. My self-punishment insults the finished work of the cross. I am FORGIVEN—completely, instantly, eternally.
The Father ran to you the moment you came to Him, not waiting for you to forgive yourself first. He clothed you in the robe while you still smelled like shame, threw the party while you were still rehearsing your unworthiness speech.
