"God doesn't work through miracles anymore because we have the complete Bible now."
How it sounds in your head: Your theology teacher said miracles authenticated Scripture before it was written, but now that we have the closed canon, we don't need signs. It sounds educated and protects the authority of the Bible.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father."
-- John 14:12Source: Dispensationalist cessationism treating Scripture as replacement for Holy Spirit power rather than revelation OF power
It creates a tidy theological system where miracles had a purpose (authenticating revelation) and then ceased when that purpose was fulfilled. It feels intellectually consistent.
Philip was supernaturally transported by the Spirit—picked up and moved geographically in an instant—AFTER Pentecost, WHILE the early church already had the Old Testament Scriptures. Supernatural manifestation didn't cease when revelation was available.
I REFUSE the lie that the Bible replaced miracles. IT IS WRITTEN that believers will do the works Jesus did—GREATER works—not 'did until 100 AD' but present tense ongoing. The Holy Spirit wasn't a temporary substitute until we got the New Testament; He's the PERMANENT power of the age to come. The BARAK blessing releases supernatural provision just like it gave Abraham wealth even when he LIED—covenant power, not behavioral performance. IT IS WRITTEN in Joel 2:28 that God pours out His Spirit on ALL flesh—that's ME, that's NOW.
The Father is running toward you with the FULL demonstration of Holy Spirit power—not a lesser 'Bible only' version but the SAME Spirit who raised Christ from the dead now living IN you. He's prepared greater works than Jesus did in the flesh because the Spirit isn't limited to one physical location anymore.
