How it sounds in your head: I keep hearing 'faithful in little, ruler over much.' Like God is testing me with being broke to see if I can handle it before He gives me more. If I complain or mess up now, I'll never get promoted. I have to prove myself worthy of blessing.

It sounds biblical and makes logical sense—prove yourself at one level before advancing. Every job works that way. It seems fair that God would test first, then bless.
Abraham LIED about Sarah being his sister out of fear, terrible faithfulness test failure. God plagued Pharaoh to PROTECT Abraham's lie, and Abraham left Egypt MUCH richer than he entered. The blessing didn't wait for better character.
I REFUSE the lie that I must prove myself faithful before God blesses. IT IS WRITTEN that grace is no longer grace if it's based on works. Abraham LIED TWICE and left richer both times—the BARAK doesn't require proof first. The prodigal got the RING while still smelling like pigs, no probation period. IT IS WRITTEN that I'm blessed because of CHRIST'S faithfulness, not mine. The blessing isn't a promotion system; it's a COVENANT. I don't earn my way up; I receive freely because I'm IN THE VINE. Fruit comes from CONNECTION, not from proving I deserve it. The blessing is NOW, not after I've passed tests.
Your Father isn't watching to see if you handle lack well before He gives abundance. He's the Father who gave the RING and the ROBE before the son proved anything—because blessing is about His NATURE, not your performance.
