"God answered when I was on fire for Him, but now I've grown lukewarm and He's withdrawn."
How it sounds in your head: I remember when I was so passionate—attending every service, volunteering constantly, reading my Bible for hours. God felt so near. Now life is full, I'm exhausted, my quiet times are sporadic, and heaven is silent. I've become the lukewarm Christian Revelation warns about, and God has stepped back until I return to my first love.
"Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness."
-- Lamentations 3:22-23Religious teaching that God's presence and response are conditional on emotional intensity and activity level rather than covenant relationship.
The correlation between her intense spiritual season and sensing God's presence, versus her current exhaustion and silence, feels like obvious cause and effect. Revelation 3:16 about lukewarm believers haunts her.
Peter denied Jesus three times, ran away, went back to fishing—completely deflated and lukewarm. Jesus didn't lecture him or put him on probation. He made him breakfast on the beach and recommissioned him on the spot.
I REFUSE the lie that God grades me on passion levels and withdraws when I'm tired. IT IS WRITTEN that His mercies are new every morning, not contingent on my spiritual temperature. I am under the BARAK blessing that never fluctuated with Israel's emotional state—it stayed even when they grumbled, even when they rebelled. IT IS WRITTEN that I am seated with Christ in heavenly places, and that position doesn't change with my energy or emotions. My standing with God is not based on my activity level but on Christ's finished work. I receive fresh encounter with my Father NOW, not because I've reignited my passion, but because His faithfulness never depended on mine.
Your Father isn't measuring your spiritual temperature and adjusting His proximity accordingly. He's making you breakfast on the beach while you're still confused and deflated, recommissioning you in your tiredness, running toward you when you barely have energy to walk toward Him—because His love isn't fueled by your passion but by His unchanging nature.
