"Giving when you're broke is irresponsible and foolish financial management."
How it sounds in your head: Dave Ramsey would say you need an emergency fund and to get out of debt first. Giving when you don't have stability is naive. Be smart with money before being generous.
"So He said, 'Truly I say to you that this poor widow has put in more than all; for all these out of their abundance have put in offerings for God, but she out of her poverty put in all the livelihood that she had.'"
-- Luke 21:3-4World: Elevating human financial wisdom above Kingdom principles, making natural logic the god you serve instead of Jehovah Jireh.
Every financial expert says to build savings first, handle debt, create stability—THEN be generous. Giving when broke seems like the opposite of stewardship and sounds emotionally driven rather than wisdom-based.
She was so broke that creditors were about to take her sons as slaves. Elisha told her to pour her last bit of oil—and it multiplied until every container in her house was full. She paid off ALL her debt and lived on the surplus. From bankrupt to debt-free in one afternoon.
I REFUSE the lie that giving when broke is irresponsible. IT IS WRITTEN that the poor widow who gave everything was commended by Jesus Himself, not criticized for lacking financial planning. Kingdom economics aren't natural economics—when I give first, I'm activating multiplication that human wisdom can't produce. The BARAK blessing covered Abraham even when he made foolish decisions, and it covers me. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies all my needs according to HIS riches, not my budget. I don't give from what I have left; I give first and watch God fill the gap. I'm a branch abiding in the Vine—provision flows TO me, not FROM me. My Father ran to the prodigal who blew everything; He doesn't lecture me for giving generously.
Your Father isn't impressed with your budget—He's moved by your trust. When you give from your lack, you're doing what religion calls foolish but Heaven calls faith, and THAT'S when God shows up with oil jars that won't stop pouring. He doesn't wait for you to be stable; He partners with you in the mess and creates stability through your obedience.
