"Food is the enemy I have to constantly fight and monitor."
How it sounds in your head: Every meal is a battle. I have to be hypervigilant about what goes in my mouth. Good foods versus bad foods. Safe foods versus dangerous foods. Food is the problem I have to control or it will control me.
"For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving; for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."
-- 1 Timothy 4:4-5Source: Diet culture rebranding food - a GIFT from God - into a moral battlefield where you're always either winning or losing.
Every diet you've tried labeled foods as 'good' or 'bad,' and you've felt the shame of eating 'bad' foods, so your brain now categorizes food as friend or foe.
Peter saw a sheet with all kinds of animals - clean and unclean - and heard God say, 'Rise, kill and eat.' When Peter objected, God said, 'What GOD has cleansed you must not call common.' God HIMSELF removed food categories and called it all clean.
I REFUSE the lie that food is my enemy or that I must live in constant fear and vigilance around eating. IT IS WRITTEN that every creature of God is GOOD and nothing is to be refused if received with thanksgiving. God made food as a GIFT, and Jesus declared all foods clean. IT IS WRITTEN that He gives us richly all things to enjoy. I receive food with gratitude, not guilt. The BARAK blessing covers my provision and my freedom. I am blessed in my eating, blessed in my nourishment. Food is FUEL and FELLOWSHIP, not a fight. I eat in PEACE.
Your Father prepared a TABLE before you - not a battleground. He's inviting you to sit and EAT without fear, without shame, without hyper-vigilance. He's not testing you with food; He's FEEDING you as an act of love. Come to the table. The feast is ready, and you're WELCOME.
