"Everyone in my family is broken, so I'll probably end up broken too no matter what I do."

How it sounds in your head: You look around at family gatherings and see trauma, dysfunction, mental illness, addiction, broken marriages. Nobody is 'okay.' Nobody is thriving. They're all just... surviving. And you think 'why would I be the exception?' Wholeness feels like a fairy tale for other families, not yours.

Psalm 147:3

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

-- Psalm 147:3
Enemy whispers: Everyone in your family is broken, so you will be too. BUT IT IS WRITTEN: Psalm 147:3 - 'He HEALS the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.' Not 'manages their brokenness.' HEALS. You are not destined for a life of beautiful brokenness—you are destined for WHOLENESS. Luke 4:18 says Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and set captives FREE. Your family's brokenness is not your blueprint—HIS HEALING is.
Quick Truth: LIE: Family brokenness means I'll be broken. TRUTH: He HEALS the brokenhearted—you're destined for WHOLENESS, not brokenness. Psalm 147:3

Source: enemy + hopelessness that makes brokenness an IDENTITY instead of a condition Jesus came to HEAL and makes your family's current state their permanent destiny.

Why this feels true:

She's watching 100% brokenness rate in her family. Not one person is a model of wholeness. When the entire sample size is broken, expecting to be whole feels statistically delusional and emotionally naive.

Luke 13:10-13
The Bent-Over Woman

This woman had been bent over, unable to stand straight, for EIGHTEEN YEARS—a 'spirit of infirmity' had crippled her. She'd lived broken for nearly two decades. Jesus called her forward, said 'Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity,' laid hands on her, and IMMEDIATELY she straightened up—eighteen years of brokenness GONE in one moment.

Speak this out loud

I REFUSE the lie that my family's brokenness is my destiny. IT IS WRITTEN that He HEALS the brokenhearted and binds up wounds. I am not called to 'embrace my brokenness'—I am called to WHOLENESS. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and set captives free. Every broken thing in my family—trauma, dysfunction, mental illness, addiction—was placed on Jesus so I could walk in RESTORATION. I am not the exception who got lucky—I am the HEIR who got JESUS. My children will grow up in a whole home with a whole mother because the curse of brokenness STOPPED at the cross. I am HEALED, WHOLE, and FREE.

But God actually:

Your Father sees every broken person in your family and isn't planning to add you to the list. He's planning to make you the FIRST WHOLE ONE—not after years of therapy prove you've processed everything, but right NOW because Jesus already HEALED the brokenhearted 2,000 years ago and that includes YOU.
