"Everyone I loved has died—God took all my friends as punishment."
How it sounds in your head: One by one, they're all gone. My husband, my sisters, my lifelong friends—buried. God is stripping me of everyone as judgment for my failures.
"Though He causes grief, yet He will show compassion according to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, nor grieve the children of men."
-- Lamentations 3:32-33Religious lie that death is divine punishment rather than natural transition in fallen world.
Overwhelming grief, multiple losses in short time, feeling targeted by death, alone in a generation that's passed.
Lost all ten children in one day, blamed by friends as punishment for sin. God's actual response: 'You spoke rightly, they spoke wrongly,' then DOUBLED everything Job lost—vindication, restoration, blessing. The losses were NOT punishment.
I REFUSE the lie that God took my friends as punishment. IT IS WRITTEN that He does NOT afflict willingly nor grieve people—He HATES death and came to destroy it. My losses are not judgment but the reality of a fallen world Jesus is REDEEMING. IT IS WRITTEN in John 11:25 that Jesus IS the resurrection and the life, and I WILL see every loved one again. God is not my punisher—He's my COMFORTER, my present help, preparing the reunion. The BARAK blessing doesn't end with death—it follows me into eternity where I am surrounded by the great cloud of witnesses cheering me HOME.
Father is holding every person you've lost in His arms, telling them about the party He's planning for when you arrive. They're not gone—they're waiting at the finish line, and the race is almost done.
