"Everyone else has energy to thrive; I'm uniquely broken and stuck in chronic depletion."
How it sounds in your head: Look at them—launching businesses, leading Bible studies, coaching their kids' teams, posting workout pics. You can barely make it through a workday. Something is fundamentally wrong with YOU specifically. You're defective.
"Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world."
-- 1 Peter 5:9Comparison lie—believing your struggle is unique and evidence of personal defect.
Social media shows everyone else's highlight reel. They DO seem to have energy you don't. You feel isolated in your exhaustion, like you're the only one faking it through life.
Elijah just called fire from heaven and defeated 450 prophets, yet immediately after his greatest victory he collapsed in suicidal depression saying 'I ALONE am left.' God showed him 7,000 others who hadn't bowed to Baal—Elijah's isolation was a LIE, he was never alone.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm uniquely broken. IT IS WRITTEN that the same sufferings are experienced by my brotherhood—I am NOT ALONE in this fight. Comparison is a thief and a liar. What I see in others is their highlight reel, not their reality. IT IS WRITTEN that no temptation has overtaken me except what is COMMON TO MAN—this isn't evidence of defect, it's evidence of shared humanity. Like Elijah who thought he was alone, I am surrounded by THOUSANDS fighting the same battle. I am not defective—I am a SON, covered by the BARAK blessing that makes me the HEAD and not the TAIL.
The Father sees you comparing yourself to others' curated lives and He's whispering 'You're not alone, you're not broken, you're BELOVED exactly as you are.' He's already fighting for you while you think you're fighting alone.
