"Everyone else finished their life strong, but I'm ending in weakness and decline."
How it sounds in your head: You look around and see men who stayed sharp until the end, who died with dignity. But here you are—body failing, mind slipping, becoming a burden. You didn't finish the race well. Other men your age are still golfing, still driving, still independent. You're the one who couldn't hold it together.
"And He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."
-- 2 Corinthians 12:9Enemy comparison mixed with world's definition of strength through performance and physical capability.
He sees peers who seem more capable, remembers the man he used to be, and the physical decline feels like personal failure. Provider identity was built on strength and independence, so dependence feels like defeat.
Moses was 120 years old when he died, yet 'his eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.' God SUPERNATURALLY sustained him to the very end—not because Moses earned it, but because God is FAITHFUL. Your end is in HIS hands, not determined by comparison.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm ending weak while others finish strong. IT IS WRITTEN: His strength is made PERFECT in my weakness. I am not measured by physical capability or independence—I am measured by CHRIST IN ME. IT IS WRITTEN: I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and His grace is sufficient for every moment of my life. My latter days are COVERED by the Abrahamic blessing—blessed coming in and going out. I boast in my weakness because His POWER rests on me. I am finishing exactly as He planned, and it is GOOD.
The Father is not comparing you to anyone—He's looking at you with the same delight He had when He formed you in the womb. While you see decline, He sees His strength being PERFECTED, His glory being REVEALED through a man who has learned complete dependence is the highest strength.
