"Church people smile on Sunday but gossip and judge the rest of the week."
How it sounds in your head: I heard what they said about my daughter's divorce. They pray for me in the prayer circle, then whisper in the parking lot. Their 'bless your heart' is a weapon.
"Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do."
-- Colossians 3:12-13Religious hypocrisy creating suspicion that genuine love is impossible, making every kindness suspect.
She has literally overheard the gossip. The smiles feel painted on. The 'concern' feels like judgment wrapped in Scripture. Her guard is up because she's been burned.
Crippled, hiding in obscurity, convinced he was worthless. David's servants brought him to the palace where he was CERTAIN he'd be killed. Instead, David restored ALL his grandfather's land and seated him at the king's table PERMANENTLY—not for his merit, but for covenant with Jonathan.
I REFUSE the lie that hypocrites invalidate my belovedness. IT IS WRITTEN that I am elect, holy, and beloved—not by church vote, but by BLOOD. Their gossip doesn't define me; HIS righteousness does. I am not what they whisper; I am who HE declares. IT IS WRITTEN that there is NO condemnation for those in Christ—not 'some condemnation when they talk,' but NONE. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, not by congregational approval. I declare I sit at the King's table like Mephibosheth—not because I earned it, but because of COVENANT. I am the righteousness of God in Christ, and no parking lot whisper can change that.
While they whisper, your Father is shouting over you: 'This is My beloved daughter in whom I am well pleased.' He's not waiting for them to approve—He's already seated you at His table and called you HOLY.
