"Christians should expect persecution and suffering as the world gets darker."
How it sounds in your head: Jesus said we'd be hated, persecuted, killed for His name. Maybe this is just what being a Christian looks like now—losing jobs, being censored, suffering. Maybe blessing theology is prosperity garbage and real faith means losing everything.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Source: Religion glorifying suffering as proof of faithfulness, twisting martyrdom into an expectation for all believers.
The Bible talks about persecution for the gospel. Early church suffered. Christians in other countries face real persecution. Maybe comfort is un-Christian.
During Jezebel's persecution when prophets were being killed, Obadiah was in Ahab's palace as the head steward—PROSPERING in enemy territory while hiding and feeding 100 prophets. He didn't suffer—he THRIVED and used his position to protect others.
I REFUSE the lie that suffering and loss are my destiny as a Christian. IT IS WRITTEN: Beloved, I pray you PROSPER in all things and be in HEALTH. Yes, I may face opposition for the gospel, but poverty and sickness aren't proof of faith. IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:13-14 that Christ redeemed me from the curse so the BLESSING of Abraham comes on me. Like Obadiah prospering in Ahab's palace, I can THRIVE in hostile environments. The BARAK protects me.
The Father isn't calling you to a poverty gospel—He's calling you to PROSPER so you can be a conduit of His blessing. He wants you HEALTHY and WHOLE, not broken and barely surviving.
