"Christians are judgmental and fake—better people exist outside the church."
How it sounds in your head: My non-Christian friends accept me more than Christians ever did. They don't judge my questions or my past. Church people smile on Sunday then gossip by Tuesday. My coworkers show more grace than the small group that dropped me when life got messy.
"Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy and not sacrifice.' For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners, to repentance."
-- Matthew 9:12-13Source: Religion's performative culture wounded you, then enemy whispers that the wound proves the faith is false.
You experienced actual rejection when you were honest about struggles. Meanwhile, unchurched friends didn't demand you perform righteousness to belong.
Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute—enemy of Israel, sexually immoral by any standard. The spies didn't demand she clean up first. She said 'I know the Lord has given you this land,' and IMMEDIATELY they said 'our life for yours.' Instant acceptance into God's people. She's in Jesus' bloodline.
I REFUSE the lie that religious people's judgment represents God's heart. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus desires MERCY not sacrifice, and He came for sinners, not the self-righteous. The Pharisees rejected Jesus—religion has ALWAYS been the problem, not the Father. IT IS WRITTEN that God's KINDNESS leads me to repentance, not condemnation. I am the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God in Christ, not by performance but by His gift. The BARAK blessing is mine by covenant, and like Rahab the prostitute, I'm instantly welcomed into God's family. I'm done listening to older brothers when the Father is running toward me.
The Father sees religious judgment and says 'That's not Me.' He's the one who ate with sinners, touched lepers, and promoted prostitutes into His family tree. Their performance-religion wounded you, but His kindness is healing you.
