"Children are a reward for righteous living, so infertility means my parents aren't good enough"
How it sounds in your head: Psalm 127 says children are a reward. If they're a reward, then not having them means you didn't earn it. My parents go to church, tithe, pray - but it's still not working. Maybe they have secret sin. Maybe they're not righteous enough. Maybe God is waiting for them to be better.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9Source: Taking one verse out of context to build a works-based gospel that makes God's gifts conditional on performance, erasing the meaning of GRACE
Psalm 127:3 literally uses the word 'reward' which sounds transactional. Religious culture constantly connects blessing to behavior, making every lack feel like evidence of hidden failure.
She was barren with no explanation of sin or failure - just closed womb. An angel appeared and said 'you shall conceive and bear a son' - INSTANT prophetic promise that came to pass, proving barrenness had nothing to do with righteousness level.
I REFUSE the lie that children are rewards earned by perfect behavior. IT IS WRITTEN that salvation and ALL God's gifts are by GRACE, not works. My parents are righteous by FAITH in Jesus, not performance. Hannah was righteous but barren. Abraham LIED but still received Isaac. The BARAK blessing isn't based on behavior - it protected liars, deceivers, even murderers. IT IS WRITTEN that God gives GIFTS freely. My parents don't earn children; they RECEIVE them because they're in Christ. I decree the lie of performance-based blessing is BROKEN. Children are flowing into our family by GRACE RIGHT NOW.
The Father isn't holding a clipboard grading your parents' behavior to decide if they qualify for a baby - He GAVE His Son freely, so how would He withhold a child? He's ready to explode their world with the gift they've been longing for, not because they earned it, but because GRACE.
