"We miscarried because something is spiritually wrong with us."
How it sounds in your head: You can't shake the feeling that God took the baby because you weren't ready, weren't faithful enough, had unconfessed sin. Your wife is devastated and you feel like you failed to protect both of them. Maybe if you'd prayed more, been a better man, God wouldn't have allowed this.
"Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."
-- John 9:3Religious lie that makes God the author of tragedy and turns miscarriage into punishment instead of living in a fallen world.
The pain demands an explanation and religion offers one - your failure. The timing feels cruel, the loss feels personal, and guilt is easier to process than random tragedy.
Job lost all ten children in one day through no fault of his own - his friends blamed him but God rebuked them. God restored Job's family with twice the livestock and gave him ten more children, vindicating him completely.
I REFUSE the lie that miscarriage is punishment for my sin. IT IS WRITTEN that there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus - not some condemnation, not hidden condemnation, NONE. Jesus took every punishment I deserved on the cross. This loss is not God's will but the result of a fallen world that Jesus came to redeem. IT IS WRITTEN that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy but Jesus came to give abundant life. The enemy stole this pregnancy but he cannot steal my destiny. I am blessed in my body, my seed is blessed, and the blessing of Abraham makes me fruitful. My testimony isn't over.
Your Father didn't take your baby because you weren't good enough - He's not the older brother counting your mistakes. He's the Prodigal's Father who runs toward broken hearts with full restoration, who has more children planned for you, who catches every tear in a bottle and is writing a story of redemption bigger than your loss.
