"Being unwanted at the start means I have to prove my worth every day of my life."
How it sounds in your head: You've been running the math your entire life—achieving to justify existence, providing to earn place, performing to prove value. Now at 40-plus with a resume of accomplishments, you realize you're still chasing the validation you never got at birth. You're exhausted from proving you deserve to be here.
"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."
-- Ephesians 2:8-9Performance-slavery lie rooted in unwanted origin—enemy using early rejection to install lifelong works-treadmill, stealing rest and identity.
If they didn't want you at the start, you concluded you'd have to EARN your place. Every achievement has been about proving you weren't a mistake. But no amount of success fills the hole of original unwantedness. As a provider and performer, you've been working for acceptance for four decades and you're no closer.
Criminal dying in disgrace, no good works, no time to prove anything, no religious resume—just 'Lord, remember me.' Jesus said 'TODAY you will be with Me in Paradise.' Not 'prove yourself first,' not 'work your way back,' not 'earn it.' INSTANT. PARADISE. TODAY. Zero works, total acceptance. From criminal to paradise in one sentence. That's grace.
I REFUSE the lie that I must prove my worth or earn my place because I was unwanted at birth. IT IS WRITTEN that I am saved by GRACE through faith, not of works, lest any man should boast. I cannot earn what was freely given. I cannot prove what was already declared. IT IS WRITTEN that I am blessed coming in and going out, and the blessing of Abraham is COVENANT, not performance. I am accepted IN the Beloved, not after achievement. The treadmill stops. The striving ends. I am son by grace, wanted by choice, loved by nature. I rest.
The Father isn't holding a clipboard tracking your achievements to see if you've finally earned your spot—He's holding the book where your name was written in LAMB'S BLOOD before you were born. Right now, He's not waiting for you to prove yourself; He's celebrating that His son is learning to rest in being wanted, chosen, loved—apart from works.
