"Being single means I'm incomplete and missing the other half that makes me whole."
How it sounds in your head: Jerry Maguire was right—'You complete me.' I feel like half a person, waiting for the relationship that will finally make me whole. Until then, I'm incomplete, missing something essential that everyone else has found.
"And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power."
-- Colossians 2:10Romantic culture lie that says identity and wholeness come from another person, not Christ.
The 'other half' language is everywhere in culture, church, and even wedding ceremonies. Coupled people seem more settled and complete, and your life feels like it's missing a central piece.
Jesus was single His entire earthly life and said 'I have finished the work You gave Me to do.' He was completely whole, fulfilling His purpose, never lacking or incomplete without a spouse. If Jesus was whole single, you are too IN HIM.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm incomplete without a relationship. IT IS WRITTEN that I am COMPLETE in Christ, lacking nothing. I am not half a person searching for my other half—I am WHOLE in Him right now. IT IS WRITTEN that God supplies ALL my needs, and if I needed a spouse to be complete, I wouldn't already BE complete. Jesus was single and completely fulfilled His purpose—I am IN CHRIST, which means I have that same wholeness. I am the righteousness of God, chosen, loved, and lacking NOTHING. The BARAK blessing operates on whole people in covenant, not incomplete people waiting to arrive. A relationship is ADDITION to my wholeness in Christ, not the source of it.
Your Father isn't watching you walk around half-finished waiting for someone to complete you. He says you ARE COMPLETE right now in Christ—not almost, not when you're married. The prodigal wasn't incomplete while single in the pig pen; he was the son the whole time, and so are you.
