"At my age, I'm more vulnerable to demonic attack because my spiritual strength is declining."
How it sounds in your head: I can't pray like I used to. Memory fails during Scripture reading. Energy for spiritual disciplines is gone. I'm like an old lion separated from the pride - easy prey. The enemy knows I'm weakened and is circling.
"Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you."
-- Isaiah 46:4Source: Cultural lies that aging means diminishing in every area including spiritual vitality, that God's protection correlates with human strength, that elderly believers become vulnerable targets when capacities decline.
Everything else is declining - physical strength, mental sharpness, energy. It feels logical that spiritual defenses would follow the same trajectory, making him an easier target now than at 40 when he was strong and active.
At 85 years old declared 'I am as strong this day as on the day Moses sent me' and demanded the mountain with giants and fortified cities. Age didn't diminish his strength because God was his strength - he took the mountain and drove out the giants at 85.
I REFUSE the lie that age makes me spiritually vulnerable. IT IS WRITTEN that even to gray hairs God will CARRY me, bear me, and deliver me. My protection was never based on my strength but on HIS unchanging nature. Caleb took mountains and defeated giants at 85 - not because he was strong but because GOD was his strength. IT IS WRITTEN that the righteous shall flourish like a palm tree and bear fruit in old age. I don't decline - I'm CARRIED by the Everlasting Arms. The BARAK protected 90-year-old Abraham and 147-year-old Jacob. The blessing doesn't retire. I am COVERED by the blood, SEALED by the Spirit, and CARRIED by the Father who NEVER grows weary.
The Father isn't watching your decline with concern about protecting you - He's been carrying you all along and isn't tired now. He sees your gray hairs and weak knees, and He's running toward you with supernatural strength saying 'I never asked you to protect yourself - rest in My arms, son, I've got you.'
