"Youth is wasted on the young. I didn't appreciate it when I had it, and now it's gone."
How it sounds in your head: I look back at photos from five years ago and cringe—I thought I was fat, ugly, awkward. Now I'd kill to look like that again. I wasted my youth worrying about things that didn't matter, and I can't get those years back. I squandered my best years on insecurity.
"Instead of your shame you shall have double honor, and instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion. Therefore in their land they shall possess double; everlasting joy shall be theirs."
-- Isaiah 61:7Enemy/trauma: Regret and comparison steal the present by mourning a past you can't change.
Hindsight shows her how beautiful she was when she felt ugly, how much potential she had when she felt inadequate. The regret is visceral, and the years feel irretrievably lost to insecurity and fear.
Job lost everything—wealth, children, health, years to suffering and confusion. When God restored him, He didn't just replace what was lost. He gave Job DOUBLE everything he had before. The latter days were greater than the former. Restoration with multiplication is God's pattern.
I REFUSE the lie that I wasted my youth. IT IS WRITTEN: 'Instead of your shame you shall have DOUBLE honor'—my Father doesn't mourn what I 'lost' to insecurity; He's MULTIPLYING it back to me. Job lost years to suffering and received DOUBLE in his latter days, and I am an heir of the same promise. IT IS WRITTEN: 'I will restore the years the locusts have eaten'—not just return them, but RESTORE them with increase. My Father doesn't operate by subtraction—He operates by MULTIPLICATION. The years I spent insecure are not wasted; they're being redeemed with DOUBLE honor. The BARAK blessing includes restoration, and what the enemy tried to steal is coming back with INTEREST.
Your Father isn't angry you didn't appreciate your youth—He's preparing to give you something so beautiful in THIS season that you won't mourn what's behind. He's a God of RESTORATION, not regret. The best isn't behind you; it's being prepared for you RIGHT NOW.
