"You're too sensitive and emotional. Men aren't supposed to feel this deeply."
How it sounds in your head: Your dad says 'man up' when you're hurt. Guys at school mock anyone who shows emotion. You cry during movies and hide it. Your feelings feel like weakness. Real men are stoic and unaffected.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35Toxic masculinity teaching that emotions equal weakness and vulnerability disqualifies manhood.
You've been mocked for tearing up. Every male role model seems emotionally distant. Guys who show feelings get labeled weak or gay. You've learned to bury emotions to survive, confirming sensitivity is a masculine defect.
Jesus, the perfect man and King of Kings, stood at Lazarus' tomb and WEPT publicly. He didn't hide His tears or apologize for feeling deeply - He modeled that emotional depth is divine masculine strength, not weakness to be suppressed.
I REFUSE the lie that my emotions are weakness or that men shouldn't feel deeply. IT IS WRITTEN: Jesus Himself WEPT publicly (John 11:35) and wasn't ashamed. God puts my tears in a BOTTLE because He treasures them (Psalm 56:8). My sensitivity reflects the heart of God, not defective masculinity. IT IS WRITTEN: The BARAK blessing is on my emotions and empathy - I am blessed in my authentic expression (Deuteronomy 28:3). Toxic masculinity says suppress; divine masculinity says FEEL FULLY. I am made in the image of a God who weeps.
Your Father is RUNNING to you with tears in HIS eyes saying 'Your tender heart looks like MINE, not like weakness.' He's wrapping you in the robe that says 'Compassionate Warrior' and putting the ring on your finger that authorizes your emotions as STRENGTH, celebrating the sensitivity religion tried to shame out of you.
