"You're too emotional and intense—nobody wants a woman who feels too much."
How it sounds in your head: You cry too easily. You care too deeply. You're 'a lot.' People roll their eyes when you get passionate. You need to tone it down, be more chill, stop being so sensitive. Your emotions are a burden to everyone around you.
"Jesus wept."
-- John 11:35Source: World that dismisses women's emotions, 'calm down' culture, enemy's attack on the strength of feeling deeply.
You've been told you're 'too much' your whole life. Partners have called you dramatic. Friends have said you need to relax. Every time you express emotion, someone dismisses it. You've learned to shrink to make others comfortable.
Mary broke an alabaster jar of perfume worth a year's wages and poured it on Jesus' feet, weeping and wiping His feet with her hair. The disciples called it wasteful and excessive. Jesus said, 'Leave her alone—she's done a beautiful thing.' He defended her extravagant, emotional worship.
I REFUSE the lie that I am too emotional or too much. IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus Himself wept, felt deeply, and expressed emotion fully. My emotions are not a weakness—they are the image of God in me. IT IS WRITTEN that God treasures my tears and hears my cries. I will not shrink to make others comfortable. I will not tone down the passion God gave me. The BARAK blessing on my life includes the fullness of who I am—emotions, intensity, and all. I am not too much. I am exactly who God designed me to be.
The Father doesn't roll His eyes at your emotions—He collects every tear, celebrates every passionate cry, and runs toward you with delight over the depth of your heart, because you reflect HIS heart, which feels ALL things with perfect intensity.
