"You're responsible for everyone's emotions and keeping peace."
How it sounds in your head: If mom's upset, you said something wrong. If dad's angry, you should've been quieter. If friends are fighting, you need to fix it. Everyone's emotions are your report card.
"For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ."
-- Galatians 1:10World: Emotional labor assigned to females from childhood
You've learned to read every room, manage every mood, apologize for things that aren't your fault. When you stop performing this role, people get upset, proving you were right to carry it.
Mary poured expensive perfume on Jesus while Judas and others criticized her harshly—she could've managed their emotions, defended herself, or apologized. Instead, she ignored their upset completely, and Jesus defended HER, saying she'd done a beautiful thing.
I REFUSE the lie that I'm responsible for everyone's emotions or required to keep peace at my own expense. IT IS WRITTEN that if I'm still pleasing people, I'm not serving Christ—I serve ONE Master. His yoke is EASY, His burden LIGHT—carrying others' emotions is NOT my assignment. IT IS WRITTEN in John 14:27 that JESUS gives peace, not me. I release what was never mine to carry. Father runs toward me celebrating my FREEDOM, not my performance as emotional manager.
Father isn't waiting for you to fix everyone's emotions—He's running toward you with the robe of DAUGHTER, not the uniform of peacekeeper. You're called beloved, not responsible for managing the world's moods.
