"You're already too damaged from past mistakes to have a clean slate."
How it sounds in your head: You've slept around, made terrible choices, hurt people. You can't undo what you've done. Other people get fresh starts, but you? You're too far gone. The consequences will follow you forever.
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."
-- 2 Corinthians 5:17Source: Enemy's accusation, shame from past sin, religious voices that emphasize permanent scarring from sexual sin.
Your body remembers everyone you've been with. The guilt is real. The STD scares were real. You can SEE the consequences of your choices, and shame tells you there's no erasing that history.
Rahab was a Canaanite prostitute—sexually immoral AND a pagan enemy of God's people. She hid the spies, believed, and was saved. God didn't just spare her—He put her in the MESSIANIC LINE. Jesus is called the Son of Rahab the prostitute in Matthew 1.
I REFUSE the lie that my past disqualifies me from a clean slate. IT IS WRITTEN that I am a NEW creation—old things have PASSED AWAY. I am not damaged goods. I am a redeemed daughter, washed white as snow, made completely clean by the blood of Jesus. IT IS WRITTEN that there is therefore NOW no condemnation to those in Christ. My past is not my identity—Christ in me is my identity. The BARAK blessing doesn't skip over me because of my history—it flows to me because of HIS blood. I am pure, whole, and completely restored.
The Father doesn't see your sexual history when He looks at you—He sees the righteousness of Christ. He's running toward you with the robe of purity, the ring of authority, and a celebration of your NEW identity, while you're still ashamed of where you've been.
