"You don't have the natural fathering instinct other dads seem to have effortlessly."
How it sounds in your head: You watch other dads connect naturally with their kids—wrestling, joking, knowing exactly what to say. You feel stiff, awkward, like you're faking it. You wonder if you're missing some fatherhood gene that makes it click.
"His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue."
-- 2 Peter 1:3Source: Enemy comparison combined with trauma from lack of modeling if your own father was absent or emotionally unavailable.
Fatherhood doesn't feel instinctive to you—it feels learned, forced, uncomfortable. When you see dads who seem to naturally excel at connection, your awkwardness feels like disqualifying evidence.
Moses told God he wasn't eloquent, wasn't naturally gifted as a speaker, had a speech impediment. God's response wasn't 'get better'—it was 'I will BE with your mouth.' Moses led with weakness and divine supply, not natural gifting.
I REFUSE the lie that I lack natural fathering ability. IT IS WRITTEN that His divine power has given me ALL things that pertain to life and godliness. I am not disqualified by awkwardness or lack of modeling. I declare that as I abide in the Vine, fathering fruit comes AUTOMATICALLY. IT IS WRITTEN that I am the head and not the tail, above only and not beneath, and the BARAK blessing makes me supernaturally effective beyond my natural gifting. My kids are blessed by my PRESENCE, not my performance. Connection grows from authenticity, not comparison.
Your Father doesn't need you to be someone else's version of 'good dad'—He made you specifically for YOUR kids. Your awkward, sincere, showing-up-anyway love is EXACTLY what they need, and He's filling every gap with supernatural grace.
