"Women shouldn't pursue wealth—that's masculine ambition. My role is contentment and quiet support."
How it sounds in your head: I've always felt that financial ambition was unfeminine, maybe even rebellious. Good Christian women are supposed to be content with what their husbands provide—or now, what my pension provides. Wanting MORE feels greedy and unwomanly.
"She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard."
-- Proverbs 31:16Religion twisted submission into financial passivity; culture taught women that ambition is unfeminine.
Every women's Bible study emphasized contentment and quiet spirits. Ambition was framed as masculine or worldly, so desiring wealth feels like stepping out of her God-given role as a woman.
This woman 'perceives that her merchandise is good' and 'makes linen garments and sells them.' She's not waiting on her husband to provide—she's CREATING WEALTH through business, and Scripture PRAISES her for it, calling her worth 'far above rubies.'
I REFUSE the lie that pursuing wealth is unfeminine or rebellious! IT IS WRITTEN that the Proverbs 31 woman—the IDEAL—considers fields, BUYS them, and plants vineyards from HER profits. I am a CO-HEIR with Christ, and the blessing of Abraham flows through ME, not around me! IT IS WRITTEN in Galatians 3:28 that in Christ there is neither male nor female—the BARAK doesn't discriminate. God gave Lydia a purple business and used her wealth to fund the Gospel. I am not called to financial passivity; I am called to CO-REIGN! My ambition for provision is not greedy—it's COVENANT INHERITANCE!
Your Father never told you to shrink financially because you're a woman—religion did. He made the Proverbs 31 woman the STANDARD and she was in real estate, business, and wealth creation—and He called her VIRTUOUS for it.
