"We're too different now—we've grown apart and become incompatible."
How it sounds in your head: You're not the same people who got married. She wants different things. You want different things. You're heading opposite directions. Even if you stayed together, you'd just be roommates forever.
"But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him."
-- 1 Corinthians 6:17World's lie that compatibility is prerequisite for covenant—when covenant actually CREATES compatibility through Christ.
You've changed since the wedding, and so has she—different interests, different friends, different goals. The connection you once had feels like a memory from another lifetime.
They were as opposite as possible—Jewish fisherman and Roman soldier, centuries of hatred between their people, nothing in common. God said 'What I have cleansed, don't call common,' and instantly made them brothers—Peter baptized him that same day.
I REFUSE the lie that we're too different to be compatible. IT IS WRITTEN that in Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female—all are ONE in Him. My marriage isn't based on personality alignment but on covenant blood that makes us ONE FLESH. IT IS WRITTEN that what God has joined together, no man—and no difference—can separate. I declare that the same Spirit dwelling in me dwells in my spouse, and that Spirit is producing the SAME fruit in both of us. We are branches on the same vine, and that vine is producing UNITY, not division. I am blessed coming in and going out, and my marriage is covered by the blessing that protected Abraham even when he messed up.
The Father isn't frustrated by your differences—He's the one who designed them to complement each other. He's already downloaded the blueprint for your unity into both of your spirits, and He's just waiting for you to stop looking at the surface and start seeing what He's already done in the depths.
