"Wanting money quickly is greed; godly people are content with slow, steady financial growth."
How it sounds in your head: Every sermon on money warns against greed and get-rich-quick schemes. Desiring rapid provision feels carnal and materialistic. I should be content with my broke bank account and trust God's slow process.
"As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God."
-- Ecclesiastes 5:19Religion weaponizing contentment verses to keep believers in poverty, twisted by poverty gospel.
Paul talked about contentment, and every financial sermon quotes 1 Timothy 6:10 about the love of money. Wanting breakthrough NOW feels like the opposite of the humble contentment modeled by missionaries.
Abraham became extremely rich in livestock, silver, and gold not through decades of contentment with lack, but through covenant blessing. God WANTED him wealthy because the BARAK blessing includes material abundance as a sign of covenant favor.
I REFUSE the lie that desiring financial breakthrough now is greed. IT IS WRITTEN that riches and wealth are the GIFT of God. I am not greedy for wanting what my Father already provided in covenant. The BARAK blessing on Abraham's seed includes material prosperity, and I am that seed through Christ. IT IS WRITTEN in Deuteronomy 28:11 that the Lord will grant me plenty of goods. I reject poverty gospel that calls God's promised blessing 'carnal.' I receive Heaven's wealth NOW.
The Father isn't testing your contentment with poverty. He's a lavish Dad who delights in giving good gifts, and He's more excited about blessing you than you are about receiving it—stop sanctifying lack He already cursed on the cross.
