"True prosperity is only spiritual; desiring physical wealth at my age is carnal."
How it sounds in your head: I should be focused on eternal things now, not earthly provision. Wanting financial blessing feels shallow—like I'm not spiritual enough to be content with 'treasure in heaven.' Physical wealth seems carnal.
"Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers."
-- 3 John 1:2Religion created false sacred/secular divide; Gnosticism taught material = bad, spiritual = good.
Lifetime of sermons emphasized 'store up treasure in heaven, not earth.' At her age, focusing on physical provision feels like she's missing the point—she should be 'beyond' material concerns by now.
After Job's suffering, God didn't just restore his spiritual relationship and say 'be content.' God gave Job TWICE what he had before—14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 oxen, 1,000 donkeys—physical, tangible, DOUBLED wealth, and 'blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning.'
I REFUSE the lie that desiring physical provision is carnal! IT IS WRITTEN in 3 John 1:2 that I should prosper in ALL THINGS and be in HEALTH—physical and spiritual TOGETHER. God takes PLEASURE in my prosperity (Psalm 35:27), not just my spirituality! IT IS WRITTEN that Jesus multiplied physical bread, turned physical water to wine, and the BARAK blessing includes physical storehouses. I am not less spiritual for wanting provision—I am a WHOLE person, and my Father delights to bless EVERY area! The same covenant that saves my soul PROSPERS my life!
Your Father never divided you into spiritual/physical categories—that's Greek philosophy. He's the God who multiplied bread AND forgave sins, who healed bodies AND saved souls—and He wants you prosperous in ALL THINGS, including your bank account.
